Simple bread and butter pudding with apples
INGREDIENTS 500g bread, sliced, crusts removed, cut into small pieces 400ml milk 4 eggs 4 medium sized apples 10 tablespoons sugar 100g raisins 1 teaspoon vanilla essence PREPARATION Place bread and milk in a bowl, until well soaked. Peel, core and cube the apples. Whisk the eggs with some of the sugar. Add the raisins and vanilla. Stir in the apples and soaked bread. Mix well. Line the sides and bottom of a pudding basin or ovenproof dish with caramel. Pour the mixture into it and bake for about 40 minutes or until tested with a skewer. Cool for a few minutes before turning out. |
